Inkheart was well off by the border pacing back and forth looking for anything...anything at all, out of place. He stopped short hearing a distant yowl. He started to run back but what if what Draginheart's fear showed up as he left. He didn't know what to do. "I'll have to depend on Smallstream to help my part." he said outloud. He padded back to his place by the stream waiting.
************************* Smallstream came running from the nursery. She looked around.

Dragonheart raced into camp and into the medicine cat's den. Wildpaw's paw was stuck between rocks and she struggled frantically to free herself. "Don't move." Dragonheart ordered quickly. the apprentice did as she was told. Dragonheart bounded back to the clearing. She flicked her tail at Rippednose. the deputy trotted to where Dragonheart stood. "I need help getting Wildpaw's paw out from those rocks." Rippednose nodded and helped. "Is it serious." Rippednose asked when Wildpaw was free. "no." Dragonheart replied. "It just needs a poltice."

Rippednose nodded slowely. "Wildpaw? What did you think you were trying to do?" she said softly almost a whisper.

Dragonheart looked at Wildpaw expectantly. The rocks behind the terrified apprentice collapsed from weakness and Dragonheart thought, what if she was still there? Dust and herbs were cast all over the clearing. Wild and frightened stares made Dragonheart's fur prickle. The debris from the destroyed den covered the three cats, turning there pelts white. Dragonheart shook her pelt and dust was sent flying in all directions, but she was covered again when the other two cats did the same. Feeling Dragonheart's stern gaze, Wildpaw shifted nervously, aware of the trouble she just caused all the cats as well as her mentor.

Inkheart swished his tail back and forth in front of him as he laid on a rock overlooking the stream. He sighed and closed his eyes, opening them again.
************************* Rippednose back away and ran to the highledge to talk to the clan in Foxstar's absense. She yowled to gather the cats
************************ Smallstream was helping a queen settle her kits down as they jumped around the nersery. She grapped Mistykit in mid flight. They were all caught with a long and bored, "awwwww!" from all the kits in sync. Smallstream smiled at Bloomingrose, while holding Mistykit. She placed him next to his siblings and cuddled them close. They were Rippednose kits but Rippednose couldn't take care of them 24/7 and be there for the clan. So Smallstream offered to watch over them. She sat there getting them ready for a nap when a yowl broke the silence of the nersery. She slowly got up with Bloomingrose and her kits to join the meeting at the edge of the nersery.

Dragonheart coaxed Wildpaw into the clearing just outside of the medicine cat clearing and sat down so she could see the highledge. I wonder if Inkheart has had any luck, she thought absently. What would she do now that the den and all of the herbs were destroyed. there would have to be gathering parties arranged to restock herbs, the clan would be using their warrior's strength on rebuilding the den...Dragonheart sighed, this would be a busy moon, that's for sure!

Inkheart heard a noise, a twig snapped acrossed the stream. He lifted his head, still a little dizzy from lack-of sleep. He stood up ready to fight. He saw a huge muscular cat push his way through the bushes a deep snarl came from him. Inkheart stepped back.
******************** Rippednose had almost all the cats in the clearing before a sharp yowl came from the forest, shattering the silence. She looked down at the warrior ready. They all leaped into the forest but they didn't head for the Riverclan border the cry had echoed and it sound as if from the opposite direction.
************** Smallstream ran up to Dragonheart,"That was Inkheart!" she leaned her face in front of Dragonheart's despiratly mewing,"where is he?"

"Come with me...He may need both of us." Dragonheart hissed quickly. Dragonheart dashed out of the camp with Smallstream hard on her heels. They tore through the undergrowth toward the RiverClan border. Dragonheart's muscles tensed in anticipation, her warrior instincts flooding back into her bones...after all, she was a warrior long before she was a medicine cat! Another yowl pierced the air and Dragonheart quickened the pace to a full-pelt sprint. As they neared the border, a huge gray tom came into view. he loomed over Inkheart, who was picking himself back up off the ground. Dragonheart skidded to a stop and Smallstream halted behind her. An angry snarl rumbled in Smallstream's chest and she took a step forward. Dragonheart barred her way with her tail and opened her mouth, tasting the air. The tom reeked of ShadowClan, but Dragonheart knew this cat. She waited in the bracken for the best moment to attack, and watched as the tom shifted his wait to his hind legs, ready to spring.
**************************************************************************
There was rustling in the bracken as a small, but muscular pair of cats stepped into the small clearing near the RiverClan border. "Razorstar!" the black and red she-cat said, her ears flattening against her head. The large tom turned to face her, shifting his gaze to match hers. "Not anymore, Dragonheart." He said calmly, "I have been cast out. I am Shakespear now." "Either way, what are you doing in WindClan territory? Rogue or not you are still not welcome." Dragonheart said, matching his calmness. The smaller she-cat edged her way around to the WindClan warrior who had just managed to pick himself up. Shakespear snarled and barred her way. She shrank back, but her expression was far from afraid. "I was hoping you could help me." Shakespear said, answering Dragonheart's question. His gazed never left the two warriors. "Why should i help you?" Dragonheart said, lifting her head to show her dominance over him. "I'm looking for a RiverClan apprentice...i think you know her." Shakespear replied. "What apprentice?" Dragonheart turned her head with curiosity. This is what Shakespear had been counting on. "Blackpaw." He said, his eyes narrowing.

As soon as Smallstream saw Inkheart she ran to him. Inkheart stayed to the side of Dragonheart but kinda in front of Smallstream to protect her.

"You have no business with Blackfire, Shakespear." Dragonheart snarled at the rogue. "Ah, so she is the medicine cat now...i'm very proud." Shakespear mumbled, his green eyes downcast. he looked back up at Dragonheart. "I have more business with her than you know." He said, his voice hard. "I say you have none. Now leave WindClan and RiverClan in peace and go." Dragonheart spat. Shakespear sighed. "I'd hate to attack you, Dragonheart. After all you are--" Shakespear began. "Enough! Leave! Now!" Dragonheart hissed, cutting him off. The gray tom seemed to hesitate but in an instant he flung himself toward the black medicine cat. Dragonheart barely had enough time to react, but she slid out of the way as Inkheart launched himself at Shakespear. the two cats tusseled on the ground after a heavy fall. Smallstream launched herself at the spitting, fighting cats. Dragonheart joined the fight and soon they overpowered Shakespear. It took all three of them to hold down the struggling cat.
**************************************************************************
A pang of fear gave Shakespear the strength to slip free of claws and teeth. He glared over his shoulder at the three WindClan cats and bounded toward the RiverClan border and out of sight. He stopped a little way away and sat down to lick his wounds. there was rustling in the undergrowth and Shakespear leapt into a tree, scrabbling to a low branch. a RiverClan patrol burst through the bracken and stopped just short of the WindClan border. From his tree, Shakespear could see the RiverClan cats bristle at the WindClan cats. He saw the WindClan cats bristle at the RiverClan cats. They stood on either side of the border, tension stained the air. Shakespear settled himself on the branch, he might as well watch since he couldn't get down without being noticed. The fight would be even if one were to break, three RiverClan cats, three WindClan cats. Shakespear tensed his muscles as he realized Dragonheart was staring right at him. Her expression was furious and her lavender eyes glittered with the light of battle. But suprisingly, Dragonheart looked away. She wouldn't betray his hiding place. Instead she faced the RiverClan warriors.

Dragonheart slashed at a RiverClan warrior with thorn-sharp claws. All the cats fell into a tangle of fighting spitting cats, yowling and screeching with pain and triumph. To Dragonheart's relief, a throng of familiar cats bounded into the clearing, Rippednose leading the way. The RiverClan warriors fled to their side of the border. Dragonheart spit with frustration, she had hoped the RiverClan cats would listen to her. She had to find a way to warn them before the next Gathering. If she waited, it might would be too late for Blackfire, the RiverClan medicine cat and her friend. And to add to that, a rogue in the forest, especially a former leader with StarClan knows how many lives left (for Shakespear is a young, strong cat), is dangerous to any cat in the forest. Troubles were stacking up on Dragonheart's shoulders like snow burdens the earth in leaf-fall. But as she looked at Inkheart and Smallstream, new understanding shining in their eyes, she knew she was not alone. Dragonheart could sense a long and tiring journey ahead.
**************************************************************************
Shakespear watched the fight from the safety of his branch. He saw nearly the whole of WindClan pour into the clearing and the RiverClan cats fled. "What is this? An attack, an invasion? Are we in danger?" Rippednose yowled. Shakespear watched with satisfaction as the deputy turned to Dragonheart, demanding an answer. "No Rippednose, there is a rogue cat in the forest--" Dragonheart began.

Rippednose straightened up glancing around (cuz she's not a worried confused fur ball as dragonheart has put! lol). She turned back to her patrol, "Scan the area." she commanded turning back to Dragonheart and with a swish of her tail cats split of searching for the intruder.
****************** Inkheart nodded, and starting sniffing around near the stream.
*************** Smallstream snapped back into reality nodded going up over by Dragonheart. Sending a nervious glance her way. Before turning back to the hunt.

Dragonheart looked back up at the tree Shakespear had been in. He was gone. Relief as well as frustration washed over her. She turned back to Rippednose. The WindClan deputy still wanted an explanation. Dragonheart didn't know what to say, so she kept quiet. She would make sense of things later. so much was happening all at once that Dragonheart felt too strung out to speak.(You were angry, not confused, Ripped. gosh!!)

Dragonheart mewed a simple goodbye and headed back to the camp. The sun had set and Silverpelt began to stretch across the dark sky. Dragonheart would have loved to curl up in her warm, comfortable den and share tongues with StarClan, but since the den was destroyed she would have to settle for a make-shift bed at the edge of the clearing. On the way back, Dragonheart kept her senses alert not just for the rogue cat, but for herbs that would be needed. there was a rustling in the bracken and Dragonheart was reminded how hungry she was. She caught and killed a small mouse and quickly ate it.
the camp was quiet as she pushed into her clearing. Wildpaw was curled up in her bedding near the rubble that was once Dragonheart's den. She doesn't even spare her mentor her bedding, Dragonheart thought with amusement.
